coincidence? no such thing.

Everyone is familiar with the story of creation. We all know that God spent 6 days creating, and the 7th day resting. We all know light came first and man came later. BUT on Monday as my small group was going through Genesis 1, lo and behold, something just caught my eye.

Genesis 1:3-4 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. (I took a very symbolic approach to this passage, as I think it's not just intended to establish day and night)

I don't think it's a COINCIDENCE that 1) God's first creation is light 2) He makes a CLEAR distinction between light and darkness.

On Sunday, our pastor preached an amazing message about being salty- how as Christians, we are called to be distinct but also, to be with all.. so, here is my conclusion that many perceive as being a basic fundamental for being a believer, but yet ironically, many have lost sight of.

1) We are called to be the light
2) We are called to separate light from darkness, meaning, accepting NO GRAY areas of sin and allowing no compromise to take form in our hearts. Also, paradoxically, although God separated light from darkness, He's also calling us to be the light in the darkness.

yep.
